SPASA SUMMER ACADEMY
2026 EDITION — AUGUST 29 TO SEPTEMBER 13

WHAT IS THE SUMMER ACADEMY?

SPASA Summer Academy is the seed project of what SPASA is today. It is a two-week international street arts training program that combines specialized learning with hands-on experience in professional events. Taking advantage of two major performing arts events held in the province of Lleida (the Aquelarre of Cervera and FiraTàrrega), four international companies offer intensive courses for participants interested in creation in public space. A 360º vision of the sector to explore the different disciplines that make up street arts.

OBJECTIVES

  • Help implement training as an essential tool in the street arts sector.

  • Weave an international collaboration network in the sector taking advantage of the contacts and synergies that may arise from the courses.

  • Bringing together established companies, professionals and people who are just starting out

  • Understand, learn and exchange techniques, knowledge, work methods and processes that can start from the same base, public space, but have very different approaches.

  • Continue with the international recognition of FiraTàrrega and extend it to Aquelarre .

WHO IS IT AIMED AT?

  • Active professional performing arts artists who are interested in street arts.

  • Professional street artists who want to have a more complete vision and knowledge of the sector

  • Members of emerging companies who are interested in professionalization.

  • Performing arts students who want to learn about or specialize in street arts.

  • Any active professional (producer, programmer, manager, set designer,...) who wants to delve deeper into the techniques or artistic and practical knowledge of the street arts sector.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The course lasts 16 days and is divided into two blocks: the experience as an audience member and professional at two major events, and the learning process as a student through the training sessions.

Street arts training
Summer Academy offers 72 teaching hours divided into four training courses, delivered by four companies specializing in different street arts disciplines. All teaching activities take place entirely in English.

FiraTàrrega and Aquelarre
Participants will experience FiraTàrrega and Aquelarre as both audience and professionals, with activities focused on understanding the organization, how the sector works, and artistic processes.

Calendar
The course begins at the end of August, coinciding with Aquelarre. This is followed by two weeks of intensive training (with a break over the weekend in between) and ends with the experience at FiraTàrrega, including travel to Tàrrega and professional activities.

Complementary activities
Includes talks with professionals, access to PRO spaces, open rehearsals, and other activities linked to the two events.
Please note that the organization does not cover FiraTàrrega tickets. Get your tickets at www.firatarrega.cat

Accommodation and meals
We offer shared accommodation in bunk beds, designed to encourage coexistence and exchange among participants. It is a simple space, with basic facilities and limited capacity (especially regarding showers), in line with the format and spirit of the course.

For those who prefer more comfort, there is the option to arrange their own accommodation in the area or come with a camper. These options are not included in the course price.

Meals are provided from Monday to Friday during the first week and from Monday to Thursday during the second. Students will have access to a space with fridges and other utensils at their disposal.

What happens if I ultimately cannot attend the course?

Up to one month before the start of SPASA, 50% of the amount will be refunded.

If you give notice less than one month in advance, the amount will not be refunded. In the event that the reason is due to justified medical reasons that make it impossible to complete the course, the amount will be refunded upon presentation of the receipt (minus any management and banking costs that the refund may generate).

In both cases, if you find someone to come in your place, you will be refunded the amount (minus any management and banking costs that the refund may generate).

Is there an option to register without diets?

No, meals from Monday to Friday are included in the price of the training and are understood as part of the course.

What happens if I have an allergy, food intolerance or follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, …

There is no problem, as long as it is communicated at the time of registration and before the course begins, so that the kitchen team can be informed in advance.
