SPASA SUMMER
WHAT IS THE SUMMER ACADEMY?
Summer Academy is the embryonic project of what is now SPASA. An international two-week street arts training. Taking advantage of two major scenic events that take place in the province of Lleida, L'Aquelarre de Cervera and FiraTàrrega , four companies come to give intensive courses on the subject for all those interested in creation in public space.
At SPASA we believe that street arts should be based on theoretical and practical specialization of its performers . With this course we are committed to a 360º vision of the sector and we want to work on the different disciplines that make up street arts. Therefore, in each edition of Summer Academy we will try to delve deeper into the practical work and the tools that different internationally recognized companies and professionals in the sector offer us.
OBJECTIVES

The student will actively participate as an audience and attendee in these two events: FiraTàrrega and Aquelarre de Cervera. The organization will offer an immersive experience in these events, focusing on different aspects of them such as the organization, relationships with professionals or the preparation of the artists who will participate.
-
Calendar
The course begins on the last Saturday of August with the arrival of the participants in Cervera, coinciding with the celebration of the Aquelarre.
During this first weekend, you can enjoy the festival's activities and participate in talks and workshops that will help you better understand this popular festival from an artistic and community perspective.
From the following Monday, the school year begins with intensive workshops with the guest companies. Each week, we work with two different companies, offering between four and five four-hour sessions.
There are no scheduled activities on the first weekend of September: it is a free break so that participants can rest, explore Cervera or discover other corners of Catalonia.
Starting on Thursday of the second week, the group will travel to Tàrrega to experience FiraTàrrega from a professional perspective, combining visits to shows with meetings, training and sector-specific activities.
-
Complementary activities
During the course we will be able to enjoy parallel activities at the Aquelarre de Cervera and FiraTàrrega . Apart from experiencing both events intensely, we will have talks with different professionals in the sector, we will have access to the PRO spaces of both events and we will attend open rehearsals and pre-performances.
