SUPPORT FOR CREATION - TRIAL & ERROR
A space to try, take risks and learn.
With this support for creation, at SPASA we offer three companies or artists a week of residency with resources so they can test actions, scenes or ideas in public space, whether they are part of a show in progress or if they are simple explorations. Here, error is not a brake: it is part of the journey.
Open call: July 20 – August 31
What we offer:
-
€1,200 in financial support
-
Accommodation, meals and workspace for one week
-
Advice (creation, distribution or production according to needs)
BASIS OF THE SPASA CALL SUPPORT FOR CREATION 2025 — TRIAL AND ERROR
1. Purpose of the Call
The SPASA Support for Creation 2025 — Trial and Error call aims to support artistic creation processes in public space, focused on experimentation, research and the “trial and error” method. The goal is to foster open processes that explore public space as a place for rehearsal, meeting and dialogue with the surroundings, without the need to reach a final, closed stage outcome.

2. Target Groups and Available Slots
Companies, collectives or artists with a proposal linked to street arts may apply.
Three projects will be selected:
-
One company from the territory (Ponent)
-
One company with international projection
-
One emerging company
SPASA reserves the right to leave any of the slots vacant if the applications do not meet the minimum standards of quality and alignment with the purpose of the call.

3. Residency Conditions
Residencies will take place between November 3rd and 9th, 2025.
One of the selected companies will also enjoy a second residency at 101 Outdoor Arts (United Kingdom), from November 24th to 28th, 2025.
Each company will receive financial support of €1,200 + taxes (a single payment after signing the agreement and starting the residency).
SPASA will provide accommodation and meals during the residency period.
SPASA will offer artistic, production and distribution advice according to the characteristics and needs of the project.
The company must have a legal entity able to issue an invoice to receive the grant.

4. Commitments of the Selected Companies
-
Share the process with the SPASA team and with the other selected companies.
-
Organise at least one open session with the local community, in the chosen format. The SPASA team will produce this session.
-
Submit a brief final report clearly and neatly summarising the process developed, including texts, images and/or audiovisual materials. This documentation should make it possible to understand the project’s evolution and the research or creation lines explored.
-
If these trials eventually lead to a performance, include SPASA’s name and/or logo in communications as a collaborator.
5. Documents to Submit
Interested companies must submit:
-
Motivation letter: explaining why public space is chosen as a creative environment and what they intend to explore during the residency.
-
Project idea or artistic actions to be developed: this can be an initial idea, a performance with actions to test, or a project at an intermediate creation stage. Proposals including elements to test in public space and not at the final creation stage will be particularly valued, though this is not mandatory.
-
Experience document: brief summary of the company’s and/or main members’ background.
6. Selection Criteria
Proposals will be assessed according to:
-
Coherence with the purpose of the call.
-
Level of experimentation and connection with public space.
-
Interest in the proposed process and capacity for interaction with the environment and community.
-
Alignment with SPASA’s values.
-
